The real fault,
found and fixed

Warning lights, unusual noises, poor performance. We find the actual fault, tell you what it is and what it costs to fix, then get your approval before we touch anything.

How we work
  • Diagnose the fault first, always
  • Written quote before any work starts
  • Nothing touched without approval
  • Test drive after every repair
  • Same-day repairs often available
Proper diagnosis. Honest quotes.

Our repair process

  1. Book a diagnostic

Call us on 01903 805222 or book online. Tell us what you're experiencing and we'll slot you in. You don't need to know what's wrong, that's our job.

  2. We scan and inspect

We connect to your car's OBD system and read all stored fault codes, then carry out a physical inspection to confirm the root cause. Codes tell us where to look, not always what the fix is.

  3. Written report and quote

You get a clear written report. Each fault is explained in plain English with a fixed price to repair it. We'll prioritise what's urgent and what can wait.

  4. Approve, then we fix

Nothing moves until you say so. Approve the work, we carry it out, then road-test the vehicle before you collect. Fault cleared. Problem solved.

The Auto Empire difference

Diagnose first. Always.

We don't swap parts hoping something works. We find the actual fault before quoting, so you only pay for what's needed.

Fixed quote before work starts

The price we quote is the price you pay. We don't find extra work once the car is in pieces. If something unexpected comes up, we call you. The decision is always yours.

Road-tested before you collect

Every repair is followed by a road test to confirm the fault is clear and nothing else has been disturbed. You collect a car that's been proven to work, not just one that's been reassembled.

Clear explanation every time

We explain what failed, why it failed, and what we did to fix it. In plain English, not garage jargon. If you want to see the worn part before we replace it, just ask.

Repair FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book.

How much does a diagnostic scan cost?

We charge a fixed diagnostic fee to connect to your car's OBD system and read fault codes, followed by a physical inspection where needed. We'll quote this when you call. The diagnostic fee is deducted from your repair bill if you go ahead with the work.

What does the diagnostic actually check?

We connect to your car's OBD port to read stored and live fault codes from all electronic control units. That gives us a starting point. We then carry out a physical inspection to confirm the root cause. Fault codes tell us where to look, not always what the fix is.

My warning light came on then went off. Should I be worried?

Yes, take it seriously. A light that comes on and goes off often means an intermittent fault. The code will usually still be stored in the ECU even if the light is off. Ignoring it risks the fault getting worse or leaving you stranded. Book a diagnostic to find out what's stored.

Do I have to fix it straight away?

It depends on the fault. Some issues are safe to monitor for a short period. Others are urgent and affect your safety or risk causing further damage if left. We'll be clear about the priority when we give you the report.

Can you fix the fault the same day?

Often yes, depending on what's needed and whether we have the parts. If your repair is likely to take longer, we'll tell you when you book so you can plan accordingly. Call us on 01903 805222 to discuss in advance.

Will you start work without asking me first?

Never. Once we've completed the diagnostic and inspection, you get a written report and a fixed quote for each item. Nothing is touched until you've approved it. You can approve all of it, some of it, or none of it.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes. Petrol, diesel, hybrid, and most electric vehicles. If you have an unusual or specialist vehicle, call us first and we'll confirm whether we can help.

Do you offer ECU remapping?

Yes. ECU remapping is available for most petrol and diesel vehicles, improving power output, throttle response, and in some cases fuel economy. Ask us when you call and we can advise on what's possible for your model.

Got a warning light or a fault?

We find the actual fault. Worthing's independent garage.
